Day 95 – A Year in Stitches 2017

April 5, 2017

A quiet, busy day.  Helped get my church’s food closet set up for tomorrow morning, went to get a zipper for a purse I am finishing up, and laundry!!  Later on today I will pick up the junior from school.

I did get the rest of my silk thread from The Thread Gatherer’s Etsy store….Here is a picture:

Day 94 – A Year of Stitches 2017

April 4, 2017

Today was Bible study day and going to the local needlework shop and picking up the framed Shepherd’s Bush “The Promise” piece that was over 15 years in the making….See what happens when I go through my craft room?  Here is the finished piece:

“The Promise” by Shepherd’s Bush

I used a suede mat to match another completed Shepherd’s Bush Christmas piece.  The two pieces will be hanging near each other.

While at my local needlework store, In Stitches in Alexandria, VA, I could not help picking up some new fibers!  Last weekend I ordered some Silk ‘N Colors from The Thread Gather on their Etsy shop.  The two colors I picked out were limited editions only through their site.  I picked up some more colors today at the shop.  Bright bold colors!!

The Thread Gather Silk ‘N Colors in Sweet Lavender, Wild Blue Yonder, Rose Manor, Bubble Gum (left to right)

So now to the daily progress!  I added bark to my palm tree, I guess I used a Satin Stitch in cotton floss….I  am not sure which floss or color, but I am pretty sure it is a Weeks Dye Works product.

Day 77, Week 11, YTD– A Year of Stitches 2017

March 18, 2017

Quiet day today.  Husband and I went to the Salvation Army to donate items.  He wants to start cleaning out the basement in anticipation for moving, which won’t happen for a couple of years, we hope!

This week was finishing up the tropical section of my main hoop.  I needed the reminder of the warmth and sun because we received snow/sleet/rain during the northeaster storm during the week.  My son missed one day and was late two days this week for school.  Today was adding a starfish.

So, I am not sure what I will stitch next, so I will decide starting tomorrow on week 12!

Day 70, Week 10, YTD– A Year of Stitches 2017

March 11, 2017

Today is a big day in our household, our youngest is taking the SAT.  That means he is one step closer to going off to college.  Just like his sister, he wants to go way far away from the parents…to the University of Oklahoma….Just like his grandpa and mom!!  (Yes, I too ran far away from Northern Virginia for college..but I was next to grandparents!)  So today’s stitching was low key, adding more mini waves…

This week was working on the waves on the next section of hoop.  I realized on Wednesday that I was either going to add lots of detail in a couple of days, or work on this section for more than one week.  So this section is not finished!  Come back next week to see what happens, it will be a surprise for me and you!

Day 70

Stitch:  Back Stitch

Fiber:  Weeks Dye Works in Sky, two ply used

Day 62 – A Year of Stitches 2017

March 3, 2017

This first Friday of March started off with snow flurries in Northern Virginia…Just a little reminder that it is still winter and that 78 degree day these past few days is not normal!!  The snow is now gone, so I decided to finish off my flowers on my hoop.

I used a couple of stitches and thread colors for the garden.  I did not have any particular flowers in mind, but I was influenced by crocuses and daffodils….

Tomorrow will be either more winds or I will add a sun to wrap up week number 9.

Day 62:

Stitch:  Detached Chain Stitch and French Knots

Fiber:  Weeks Dye Works in Saffron and Crescent Colours in Sugar and Spice, 2 ply used
