Day 96 – A Year in Stitches 2017

April 6, 2017

Today has been exciting!  The last tornado warning and several thunderstorm warnings have been lifted (as of this afternoon).  My son got to escape the trailer classrooms used during the renovation of his high school and huddle in the main building’s hallways during the tornado warning.  Thankfully nothing happened!

While the sun is peeking out, I worked on adding palm fronds to my hoop.  After getting inspiration from Google images, I added my first branch.  I used a lighter green floss than I would on white fabric, but since I am working on a green linen, it works!

Day 96:

Stitch:  Straight Stitches, randomly stitched.

Fiber:  Sampler Threads from The Gentle Art in Spring Grass, single strand used.

Day 77, Week 11, YTD– A Year of Stitches 2017

March 18, 2017

Quiet day today.  Husband and I went to the Salvation Army to donate items.  He wants to start cleaning out the basement in anticipation for moving, which won’t happen for a couple of years, we hope!

This week was finishing up the tropical section of my main hoop.  I needed the reminder of the warmth and sun because we received snow/sleet/rain during the northeaster storm during the week.  My son missed one day and was late two days this week for school.  Today was adding a starfish.

So, I am not sure what I will stitch next, so I will decide starting tomorrow on week 12!

Day 77

Stitch:  Straight Stitch

Fiber:  Weeks Dye Works in Mulberry, two ply used

Day 56, Week 9, YTD– A Year of Stitches 2017

March 4, 2017

This week was completing a section of my main hoop.  I pulled inspiration from the warm weather and the approach of Easter…I know, more than a month away, but the warm weather makes it seems closer….

I finished up the week today with adding the sun….I used four stitches in a piece of leftover yellow floss…I don’t know the color or company…sorry.

Day 63:

Stitch:  Chain Stitch, Straight Stitch, French Knots, and Back Stitch

Fiber:  Leftover piece of cotton floss from one of the hand dyed companies….sorry!, used 2 ply

Year to Day Ending March 4, 2017 – Week 9

Day 61 – A Year of Stitches 2017

March 2, 2017

This morning  I helped out with our church’s food closet.  We received over 2,000 pound of food yesterday from our local grocery stores and food bank, so we had plenty of selections.  Every week the food closet serves the families from our local grade school that receive free or reduced lunches.  Today we helped over 120 people, a little less than the past month, we average around 150 per week…Here is a picture of some of the goodies….

Today, I finished up the flower stems, still using the same colors.  Tomorrow and Saturday I will finish up with the blossoms….

Day 61:

Stitch:  Straight Stitch

Fiber:  Weeks Dye Works in Chartreuse, 2 ply used
